Hello K Community!

Let the countdown begin! Next Monday, January 19th, 2023 join us in the lower quad for our annual Juneteenth celebration from 12-2 p.m. We’ll have food (please RSVP), music, and lawn games to celebrate the day.

Due to catering needs those who would like food will need to put complete the Juneteenth RSVP Form by 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 13th.

Black Joy Week Mindful Meditation for Black Mental Wellness

Slow down the week with some mindful meditation. All are welcome and encouraged to pause and access your inner joy even if just for a moment.

  • Location: The Quad – under the tree area in front of Hicks near the parking lot
  • Time: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • All are welcome for guided and non-guided meditations, snacks, and handouts on meditation for black mental wellness.

That’s right, BAFSA is back for the third annual Black Joy Week! This year, BAFSA, the Arcus Center, Counseling Center, Intercultural Center and the BSO have joined together to create a week full of fun!

Happy New Year BAFSA!

We hope your winter break was restful, reflective, and fun.

Thanks to BAFSA member/Interim Director of the Intercultural Student Life Center, Justine Shelton and Intercultural Student Life Program Coordinator, Alaq Zghayer, there will be many events available to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Friday, January 13th and Monday, January 16th!

The theme for this year’s celebration is Centering Black Lives: Various movements, One purpose, where participants will join in understanding the past, educating the present and moving toward the betterment of Black communities.

In honor of the profound legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr,
we will gather to celebrate the impact of his commitment to social justice and radical change.

Celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with an engaging performance by storyteller, Emily Lansana and Zahra Baker.

Emily and Zahra’s performance will highlight stories of resistance, resilience and transformation from history to the present. It will celebrate dynamic leaders and everyday people who have contributed to changing our world.
